Professional Scholarships

The Professional Scholarship Program, administered by the Texas Rural Water Foundation (TRWF), was established to recognize and assist qualified individuals in their pursuit of continued education and career advancement in the water and/or wastewater industry. The TRWF Professional Scholarship Program is designed to defray the costs of tuition, fees, books or room and board. TRWF reserves the right to revise or withhold the award of any or all scholarships offered.

1.    Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of up to $400 for each applicant.

2.    Scholarship applications are accepted all year-round and will be awarded quarterly.

3.    Selection is based on a combination of scores collected from the application and graded by the TRWF Board of Directors.

4.    Scholarship recipients must attend TRWA-sponsored courses.

5.    Scholarship term is one full calendar year from the award date of the scholarship.

6.    Professional scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient for attendance and completion of an approved TRWA operator certification course (minimum 20-hour course), conference or for admission to the TRWA Emerging Leaders Program.

7.    All recipients of professional scholarships are required to provide TRWF with proof of registration and completion of one approved TRWA water or wastewater-related operator certification course, conference or a certificate of completion of the TRWA Emerging Leaders Program in order to receive payment. Scholarship recipients must submit all documentation of course registration, completion and expenses incurred within one year of the award date.

8.    Applicants can apply more than once a year. However, if awarded, the applicant must wait a full year from the award date before applying again.

9.    In order to be eligible for a professional scholarship, applicants must complete the enclosed application form in its entirety by completing all blanks and signing the certification statement.

10. Eligibility for professional scholarships is no longer limited to employees or board members of a TRWA member water utility.

11. Applications can be hand-delivered or mailed to the TRWF office located at 1616 Rio Grande, Austin, TX 78701.

12. Recipients will be notified only if awarded at the contact information provided on the application.
