TRWA is currently accepting resumes for an Instructional Designer.

This position develops training materials and manuals to support instructor-led classes and online self-directed education for retail water and wastewater system staff. Position is responsible for creating technology-based training and content for online courses and converting existing TRWA water and wastewater manuals used in teaching live classroom courses into self-paced online formatted courses. Duties also include researching, fact finding, assembling information, and drafting training manuals for instructor-led classroom courses.

This position is based in Austin, Texas at TRWA’s office. The position is full time in an office environment and involves working with industry professionals. This position is under the direction of the TRWA Professional Development and Training Director.

 

Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional technologies, educational technologies or education with emphasis in curriculum development, or engineering (civil or mechanical), public health, public administration, liberal arts, communications. English

Self-starter and team player committed to community service

A proven track record in technical writing and development of e-learning is preferred

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. The ability to write in a clear and concise manner and the ability to assemble various types of materials (written and electronic) into a logical order is needed to achieve a quality end product for publication.

Proficiency with Articulate software, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop to produce program materials; proficiency with Microsoft Word

Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

Highly self-motivated and able to take initiative and work independently

Strong research skills

Able to work effectively with limited resources

Be able to develop online courses and assist in maintain or updating existing online courses

Be willing to travel when needed across Texas
