Education and Training TRWA has established a comprehensive technical training program for water and wastewater operators, managers and board members. All training courses offered by TRWA are TCEQ approved. TRWA’s newest program, operator certification, provides training to industry personnel for obtaining or renewing water and wastewater operator certification in Texas. On-Site Technical Assistance TRWA field representatives provide water and wastewater training and on-site technical assistance to TRWA members year round. TRWA field representatives provide advice on such issues as preventative maintenance, leak detection, water audits, rate analysis, budgeting, personnel policies and many other topics. Legal and Lobbying Services TRWA staff members work hard to influence legal and legislative matters that have an impact on water systems in Texas. The association employs two full-time attorneys to undertake legal action on matters that adversely affect water systems. TRWA also maintains a legal defense fund to assist members with legal advice and representation. In addition, TRWA employs full-time lobbyists to promote favorable legislation on the state and federal level. Liaison Services TRWA works with numerous state and federal governmental entities that influence Texas’ water policies. TRWA closely monitors the rules and regulations created and enforced by these agencies to make sure they are reasonable and necessary. Communication TRWA provides many resources to keep its members informed. Among these are the TRWA Web site, the award-winning bimonthly magazine Quality on Tap!, and other manuals available through the TRWA office. These publications allow members to stay on top of the very latest legal, technical and managerial requirements affecting the water industry.
