WATER/WASTEWATER OPERATOR I (Water/Wastewater Operations – Water Services). This posting is to fill a regular, full time position at the West Travis County water facility off of Bee Caves Road.

$11.10 - $15.50/hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of several water and wastewater treatment plants, collection systems, and distribution systems in the regional area according to the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality and LCRA guidelines. Work will generally consist of; however, is not limited to making rounds at several water and wastewater facilities, taking readings, making repairs, controlling processes, performing tests, housekeeping, grounds keeping, record keeping, and customer service.

This position requires regular call out and availability to respond to work site within 45 minutes. Must be able to climb, bend, lift, push and pull up to 100 lbs. This position requires working in adverse weather conditions, working nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and regular overtime.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: No experience – one (1) year relevant experience in water and wastewater operations maintenance or construction. The position requires a class D license in the primary responsibility area within 6 months of hire and a class D license in the secondary area of responsibility within 1 year of hire.

This position requires a valid driver's license.

Other:
Prefer previous experience in water and wastewater utilities. Prefer individual to hold a class D water license upon hire. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally and be able to work cooperatively as part of a regional team is desired.

Treatment Plant Operator III

Work involves responsibility for the operation and maintenance of equipment in a wastewater treatment plant, including such activities as checking operating conditions, gathering samples, adjusting controls, making minor repairs, assisting in general maintenance activities at the plant, and maintaining records. Summary of Duties

Under general supervision, using established procedures and general instruction, maintain, repair, locate, test, investigate and reconstruct the water distribution system. Use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in providing water system support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check and log in wells and chlorine residual daily
  • Collect bacterial samples and take to State Health Department lab as necessary
  • Change out meters and meter boxes
  • Install new meters for customers and disconnect meters for non-payment
  • Read meters monthly
  • Field test meters for accuracy
  • Check water pressure and maintain performance level of water distribution system
  • Performs locates and call for locates as necessary
  • Maintain all water system equipment in peak working order
  • Backwash iron filters

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have Class “C” (or better) Groundwater License
  • Prior experience in a utility or water system is strongly preferred

Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to take direction.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid strongly preferred

Job Opening for Water Quality Inspector

The Tarrant Regional Water District will be hiring an individual to perform environmental/water quality activities handled by the Eagle Mountain lake office, near Fort Worth, Texas.

Position duties will include water quality sampling/testing, environmental inspections, on-site sewage facility and boat toilet inspections/permitting and data organization/analysis. Candidates for the position must be able to work outdoors, lift occasional heavy loads (25-50 lbs) and possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Special skills for the position would include previous experience with boats, water quality testing/sampling equipment, on-site sewage facilities or personal computers.

Qualifications include a college degree in a related field or 4 years experience in a related field. Candidate will be required to obtain an onsite sewage facility designated representative license from the state of Texas.

Salary will range between $12.00 and $17.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
